Actors

Yasmine Salem will be playing the character Priscilla Humphrey, the antagonist. She is a "mean girl" whose goal is to get into Harvard, and she is frequently seen partaking in bullying behavior.

Michelle Nguyen will be playing Lyra Stone, the protagonist. She is a hardworking, shy, studious, intelligent and humble girl who also has a goal of getting into Harvard. She is Priscilla Humphrey's bullying victim and competition to get into Harvard.


Costumes

Priscilla Humphrey will be filmed wearing a pink polyester long-sleeved shirt, baggy blue jeans, and black-and-white Panda Dunk sneakers. Lyra Stone will be filmed wearing a baggy green zip-up jacket with blue jeans and gray sneakers. With Priscilla wearing a pink top and Lyra wearing a green top, I have tried to portray them wearing opposite colors to show how different their personalities are. Priscilla Humphrey will be wearing black mascara, pink lip gloss, bronzer, foundation, highlighter, and blush. Lyra Stone will be filmed wearing no makeup at all. This contrast in the characters' makeup preferences is meant to further highlight Priscilla's vanity as opposed to Lyra's humility and lack of obsession with her physical appearance.

Props

The props used for filming will be computers, AP textbooks, tables in our school library, and the chairs in our school library.


Locations

The locations for filming will be our school's library and our school's hallway.

1/27/25- 1:10 PM-2:40 PM

1/29/25- 1:10 PM-2:40 PM


Scripts

Priscilla is seen sashaying through the halls of her high school, then she enters the library to meet Lyra. When they meet, Priscilla insults and belittles Lyra, who is seen trying to ignore Priscilla's cruelty in favor of studying out of an AP textbook. Then, as they are both intending to check to see their Harvard University decisions, they grab laptops to do so. The clip ends on a cliffhanger as both girls are seen with their laptops open and shocked expressions on their face.


Film Equipment

Talia Tenenbaum will be using her cell phone to film. Ariba Khan will be in charge of editing the clips with software on her phone.

 Peer Reviews of First Cut Movie Opener  1.  First Cut- Betrayed Shadows For this film, I felt like the acting was very good and that I greatly appreciated the camerawork. I felt there was a wide variety of shots from close up shots to establishing shots, which really helped me get to know the characters and the setting. It did seem like a true movie opener and made me want to know what happened next as in this film, a hooded male suddenly grabs a female and then the camera shakes before the film's end. I would want to know if he is able to successfully kidnap her or if she can defend herself from him.
